Sixth Grade
Sixth grade introduces increased autonomy and higher academic and behavioral expectations. Students move between classrooms for core subjects to build independence and responsibility.
Seventh Grade
Seventh grade challenges students to grow academically and personally while taking greater responsibility for their learning.
Eighth Grade
By eighth grade, students develop the skills, confidence and knowledge needed to excel in college-prep high school programs. We encourage students to take advantage of leadership, athletics, and service opportunities to prepare for the future.
Standardized Testing
Canyon Heights uses standardized testing in kindergarten through eighth grade.
Standardized tests are computer-based and assess a student’s instructional level to measure academic growth throughout the school year in four areas: reading, math, language, and science. The testing is unique and adapts to each child’s level of learning. Test results provide instant and accurate information about classroom learning, which allows our teachers to alter instruction accordingly.
Eighth-grade students take the PSAT 8/9 and the High School Placement Test.
STAR test scores in the 90th percentile for Math and Reading and High School Placement test frequently place our students in Advanced Placement or Accelerated classes.
