Our motto expresses Canyon Heights’ noble standard: semper altius, Latin for “always higher.” We encourage our students to strive "always higher" not only in areas where they excel naturally in God-given talents, but also in areas where they do not excel, because the challenge helps build character and skill.
School Crest
The top left corner of Canyon Height Academy's
Crest is an extension of the school's motto. It features the
heights of a rugged mountain range against the unending starlit sky
to communicate the far-reaching goals to which Canyon Heights'
students aspire. The redwood tree depicted in the top right corner symbolizes the state tree of California, Canyon Heights Academy's home. The indigenous redwood, with its fire-resistant bark and towering height, also represents the honor and strength of character found in Canyon Heights Academy students.
Pictured in the bottom left corner of the crest is a single torch illuminating an open book. The book is symbolic of the academics taught at Canyon Heights Academy and the flame represents not only the light of knowledge but also the brilliance of Christ, the Truth towards which all knowledge leads.
The bottom right corner features the armor of God and the breastplate of righteousness which Saint Paul admonished Christians to wear in Ephesians, chapter six. Canyon Heights Academy equips its students to be ready with the truth and formation to fight alongside Christ in battle.
