Our music curriculum represents the best thinking of music educators and curriculum experts. It was developed from sources all over the country as well as from The National Standards for Music Education.

The study of music allows every student the opportunity to develop music skills, an appreciation for music, and the arts. This will enhance abilities that are aligned with the students’ music experience, development, and potential. The student will participate through use of self-discipline, concentration, commitment, teamwork, coordination of muscle motor skills, visual and auditory development, positive self-image, listening skills, self-expression and creativity. The students will experience an appreciation of music through hands-on experiences and listening to foster creative awareness, enjoyment of the arts, and exposure to a wide range of musical styles.

Our curriculum represents what we expect children to be able to achieve at various levels of their education, from Preschool through Grade Eight. Students will develop their musical knowledge and experiences as the material presented becomes more complex. Musical pieces will enhance skill development and encourage greater individual and group performances. Some areas of focus include:
  • Vocal Skills and Techniques
  • Music Awareness and Appreciation
  • Improvising Musical Phrases and Patterns
