Canyon Heights Academy Believes...
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children and that teachers, through their facilitation of learning, complement and continue the formative work of the parents. The students' integral formation occurs through collaboration with the parents and community.
We believe that all children have the right to learn about and prepare for the life project for which they were created by God and to live out the Gospel values of charity, human dignity, authentic freedom, peace and justice.
We believe that a school should focus on the needs and abilities of the whole person and that the intellectual, spiritual and apostolic dimensions must be incorporated into the development of the person.
We believe that the key to education is attention to the person and thorough instruction, addressing the gifts and differences of each student.
We believe that true discipline comes from within the person, is conducive to appropriate individual and social maturity and fosters good citizenship.
We believe that above and beyond mastering the school curriculum, students should be encouraged to develop and pursue their own talents, build the school community through their own initiative, take an active role in their own formation, become responsible individuals and become independent thinkers who are self motivated and active participants.
We believe that a school should foster a sense of belonging and cultural identity in order for students to come to know and respect diversity in other cultures and beliefs.
We believe that teachers teach by example. They must embody the virtues they endeavor to transmit.
We believe that parents are a vital part of the school community and, as such, are expected to reinforce the school’s philosophy with their children and support the school through their gifts of time, talent and treasure.
